A Couple Of Fellers Short So I Had To Do It Myself

Post by Totally Scrambled »

Today I have been pollarding one of our maples, taking it down to 20 foot which meant taking out about 25-30 foot of the top.

I'm just over half way done and for now will be leaving the trunks as long logs.

I've also been saving some of the thicker sticks for kindling

and trucking the all the twiggy bits up the garden and burning them.
Hoping to finish up tomorrow weather permitting.
Hopefully I can get the logs all cut to size and seasoned for next Autumn/Winter.
And a pile of ornamental cherry waiting to be cut up that I took down a couple of weeks ago.

Blokes stuff; it really is that easy for the Y-Chromosome to achieve. I’d stick to crocheting stuff and deciding of it’s a pair of gloves or a scarf, even a tea cosy once it’s complete if I were you Penn… oh and learning how to make jam, Mrs Ock and Perches make delicious jam, perhaps they will give you some pointers.

Glad to see you are working your way down Ali's list of chores.

You are very lucky to have a wife that puts so much care into keeping you entertained. I think you should buy her a nice thank you gift.

)c( I've just finished cutting it down to size.
Just a bit of trimming small branches off the remaining trunks, burning all the twiggy bits and cutting all the rest into logs, then I'm done. Well with that one anyway.
I could tell Spring is coming as today all the cuts I made were dripping water at a fair rate.

Some of those prunings look good to make into a wigwam for climbing beans.
