Eck never questions when he gets a bit of chocolate, just scoffs it quickly in case I change my mind Sandy {warn}

I think I should be called Annie DTL Silkie Ambassador {rofwl}

3rd April

We had decided to use our old bath in the big run for a chicken dust bath and got round to sorting it today.
Eck stripped it down of potentially dangerous bits for hens ( >fi< )
We carried it up and sited it by the long side of the run, placed pebbles in the bottom, firmed underneath with shavings/woodchip raked from the run and emptied half a bag of shavings in. A couple of branches were placed at one end and an old upturned rhino bucket along the side for a wee leg up if needed and then it was all ready for action.
The hens weren't interested at 1st but after being encouraged by me throwing in a few sultanas and a couple of grapes , they decided to investigate :-
First Clatty Pat goes for it ..............this is why you get ex batts - for the 'to hell with it attitude' . She is being watched from outside the run by Gloria and one or two other less bold girls.
Image
Then next in was Mary ..........not doing bad for one I thought had a couple of days to go

Image
Followed by Maisie who decided to have a scratch and dig while she was there
Image
By now Gloria wanted to know where the action was so jumped in too
Image
Melody was next, she proved to be the ace grape finder of the lot
Image
Last of all Piper, who climbed in cautiously - the rest had just leapt in {rofwl}
Image

A success then I think !
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .

3rd April
Little Minnie Haha has a very pale comb today though she seems quite perky in herself, think I will have to keep an eye open for her though, even for a cream legbar she is quite a tiny girl {hug}
4th April
Minnie still acting perfectly ok but pale comb not colouring up at all

7pm
Eck went up five minutes ago to shut the hens into their runs for the night and had a last check for any eggs and came down with an absolutely whopping pale blue/green egg, so that is the reason why Minnie was looking a bit pale round the gills - it was just short of twice the size of her usual daily egg - double yolker coming up !

5th April
Minnie Haha has a deep pink comb today )c( , I told her she needn't try that one again.
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .

Apart from Big Maisie , who is convinced there must still be grapes /sultanas still to be found, they are ungrateful besoms who would rather dust bathe in the dust in the garden !
