Swedish weaving.

Post by wendy »

Well here is the first attempt.
It is on cross stitch Aida, so not on the right material and it is cross stitch threads. But I wanted to have a practice some of the stitches and wool changes.

I have never heard of that before but it is really pretty. Is it so different to do than cross stich?

Not a lot different Helen. But instead of going through the work. You stitch on top of it. If you get what I mean. When looking at the back you cannot see any work.
A bit difficult to read the patterns to start, like anything really. I will still keep practicing for a while, before I venture into anything big.

Beatiful and bold. You are a clever girl when it comes to using a needle Wendy. With the pattern not showing through on the back, I can see that it could be used on many items that are handled rather than framed. Does that make sense?

Lovely Wendy. I can't find the table linen I was going to show you, I think it may be at my Mum's, but they are away at the moment, and I wouldn't know where to start looking at their house!

Ok so I have had a bash at two more.
Here are my efforts. The blue is incomplete but you, hopefully, can see it should mirror each other.

These are the three

It seems to be easier on my poor arthritic hands. As your wrist isn't going up and down.
But I do have a LOAD of cross stitch still to do )grin2( So maybe one and then the other. Doing it alternately.

I really like the ribbon effect of it - really is very pretty and unusual too.
