They do sell B12 1000 on Fleabay. I think I will get some from there and bin the tubs I have.

Your doc actually wrote down 1000mg of B12? yike*

As I was saying yesterday, here's what the BNF says, which prescribers follow...

"CYANOCOBALAMIN
Dose
By mouth, vitamin B12 deficiency of dietary origin, 50–150 micrograms daily taken between meals"

Hope you get sorted out one way or another {hug}

{rofwl} {rofwl} about the tan.

1mg/milligram is the equivalent to 1000mcg/micrograms.

I think what we're a bit confuddled about is your doc wrote down for you to take 1000mg/milligrams a day, which would be 1,000,000mcg/micrograms - If that's what he meant for you take.

It'd be an extremely high dose you see Wendy and you'd need to take 1,000 tablets (of 1000mcg) a day! {rofwl}

I wonder if your doc has written 1000mg in error and it should have been 1000mcg, or even 100mcg with the recommended adult dose being 50-150mcg per day?

I think I have a headache reading this post. I take a daily supplement containing B12 (as I am vegetarian). It says on my container says one tablet contains 2.5 micro grams = 100% RDA.

I am completely lost too as I can never understand what the difference is between mcg and mg :oops:

My mum gets Vit B12 injections and she has problems with numbness in one of her hands. I am guessing you go to the same surgery as my mum, or maybe not, but she goes to the one up by the Tudor shops and the pharmacist next door is always very helpful. Mind you she is always being given conflicting advice depending on which GP she sees there.

They do a good selection of Vitamins at Costco, which once again is quite close to you.

{rofwl}

It's just units of medications.

I think of it like an upside down pyramid, so at the very bottom you get nanograms, then micrograms, then next up is milligrams, then grams, then kilograms.

I had to get my head around it for the job and dr&g caluclations )t'

I'd love to know what Wendy's doc wanted her to take with regards the vitamin B12 though, he's got us all a bit confuddled {rofwl}

They used to be ours too until we moved. My experience is that Dr L (f) is very good if she is in a good mood, Dr M is also good if you can get an appt with him, but Dr L (m) tends to look up everything on the internet which is a worry {rofwl}
