Re: Kitty's hatching adventure

Well my 2 girls are in lockdown! their doors are staying shut, they both have
little pots of water full of marbles (to prevent the little chickies drowning) and
little bowls full of boring chick crumb (sorry girls). They are sitting there with
looks of great concentration whilst doing there stuff. Beany has a bare tummy
where she's pulled her feathers out, I believe this is to keep the eggs warm &
humid against her skin. Now I sit on my hands and wait...tick, tock....

This is bringing back good memories from me from last year. Ours hatched over 3 days - my nerves were raw {rofwl} , 1 came a day early , 5 on time and 1 a day late. Keep us posted on the progress - bet you keep popping out and nothing will get done today in the house.

When I shut the girls up this evening I peeped in to say goodnight to Nettle & this
gorgeous little chicky popped out, to see the world, I managed to get a pic before
Nettle pushed it back under her feathers. I think this is one of the frizzles, I'm
longing for a cuddle

Oh my! I've been gushing and melting over these beautiful chickies all day.
We had a slight panic when Beany did a massive broody poop in the nest,
I had to clean up the nest & sponge her fluffy pants, whilst keeping her calm so she
didn't tread on a chick. When I'd done the best I could I left her to settle quietly &
went to see Nettle - who promply did an enormous fart & I only just got her off the
nest in time before she also did a huge poop on it. They obviously saw me & thought
"oh look here comes the poop cleaner"
Anyway enough of that...now this is what I wanted to share

They are all bantam orpingtons, I'm pretty sure the 3 brown ones are the frizzles
and the yellow ones are gold/blue laced. The brown ones are stronger and more
confident, perhaps they hatched first.

{rofwl} {rofwl} Burst out laughing when I read that bit!!

The chicks are gorgeous {hug} I love frizzles, how old are they when their feathers start to curl?

Since getting Charlotte I've really fell in love with bantam orps, I love seeing them run {rofwl}

I think the wing feathers of the frizzles will start to curl as they develop, in about
a week or 2 I suppose. Saying that, they may not all turn out to be frizzles it depends
on their genetics.
Is Charlotte a bantam? I thought she was a big Orpy. They are lovely, so soft & fluffy
and such huge pants!

Aww well I hope you get some frizzles! They are adorable :)

Yes she's a Bantam, she is actually really small, but wide, when you hold her she's half the size she looks, she's all feathers {rofwl}
