Our missing aconites

Post by Spreckly »

Last year we bought one hundred aconites in the green, which we planted in the orchard area. We have looked and looked, and until this morning, came to the conclusion that they had either rotted (but we are told they like damp conditions), or been eaten by mice.

We have tried several garden centres for aconites in pots, but they have already been sold out.

My auntie has promised us a clump when hers finish flowering.

However, this morning, I spotted a little clump of aconite leaves, called OH to come and have a look, and he spotted another little clump of leaves. Two out of a hundred! So we shall keep on looking, hoping we get the other ninety eight soon.

Five clumps of aconites have now come through. Looking forward to flowers next year.

We have loads of wild ones all of a sudden - where they hadn't been before but where the ground had flooded and stayed damp, so they do seem quite hardy. You can have one of ours if you like, when it's gone over.

Thank you for your offer, Freeranger, but five clumps are adequate, if they flower, of course.

We have stopped mowing the area under the pear and apple trees, hoping for a wild flower garden! Will post about this on a different thread.
