My frugal desktop computer

Post by plot45b »

As part of my 'getting back to it' (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=47738), I wanted to start blogging, but I only have a tablet and hate typing for long on it.

I'm having to go 'old-school' and get a desktop, but with no money for the project I have to do some head scratching!

First of all I asked about. Turns out a mate had one going free. Yay, sorted! Or so I thought. Turns out it was just the computer - no monitor, mouse, keyboard, cables and even the motherboard battery was missing. I didn't even know the motherboard had a battery!

Anyway. It was a start.

A couple of weekends ago, ebay had one of their free listing weekends. I needed a little cash to get the bits and bobs, so I pulled an old book off the shelf and listed it.

It sold and with the money and I was able to buy the motherboard battery, keyboard and power cable :)

Now all I need is a moniter! I'm waiting for one to come up on freegle or the freebies section of gumtree or a cheap on in the charity shop.

Then I can get to blogging again :)

Shame - I had one but freecycled it a while back. There's a fair chance one will pop up someone on the Lane, I'd have thought.

Do you just look at freecycle listings or have you tried posting a Wanted? That's how mine went.

>gl< I'll look forward to reading your blog - there seem to be interesting things happening in your life at the moment. Meantime keep posting on here, won't you?

Thanks Linda. To be honest, I'm a little 'computer thick' too!

Learning as I go though :)

Wouldn't you want to use it for more than 10 days a year then? {rofwl}
