New knitting and crochet projects

Post by julie62 »

Just thought I'd share - just made this cushion - its knitted in one circular piece using short row shaping with a beaded crochet medallion in the middle. It's massive about 26 inches across! A clever pattern but a lot of knitting - done on size 3 needles in a Rowan cotton yarn.

And this is just a simple crochet granny square blanket in lots of bright colours with a border - Molly likes it anyway :-D Used stylecraft acrylic yarn - a great budget yarn.

Love them both! There is no way I would attempt the cushion - in fact I can almost certainly say that I have hung up my knitting needles now I can crochet!

I use stylecraft special acrylic for my crochet too. Did you use the join as you go method? Not tried it yet.

The cushion is stunning! I'm off to stalk you on Ravelry to find the pattern :-D

Both the rug and cushion are beautiful, bright and cheery. You must have some patience making them, or are you one of those people who can do it while concentrating on something else. I do admire yours and Helen's skill in this area.
It is great to see these crafts becoming popular again. Everyone seems to want to knit and crochet and the amount of magazines now available is amazing.

Thanks folks - Helen I did use the join as you go method and it worked out surprisingly well - wasn't sure I liked it at first but its OK just a slightly different finish and it does save on so much sewing together
