The hospice allotment

Post by boosmummy »

is a no go-er. but is not all bad news.

firstly though, i rang last week to see what was happening with the allotment and they said it had been shut down due to health and safety and wires had been crossed somewhere along the lines as they werent taking on volunteers for it.

Basically in a nutshell it needs a new path installing onto it and because it has a shale path and a greenhouse its a health and safety issue as the patients can sometimes be unsteady on their feet and the ground underfoot is also unsteady. Thouave put in for funding for the new path they dont know when it will be received so have no immediate time scale for the work to be done.

Anyway though, they rang me yesterday and said they want to keep me on as a volunteer, and they want me to work on their sensory garden maintaining that, i explained to them that veg was more my type of plant and flowers im not too sure on but they said they are going to get a maintainance man to write a list of what needs doing when and i can see how i get on, plus when the allotment is up and running i can be involved with that.

I am pleased, alright its not the allotment that i really wanted to do, but it will be good to do a different type of gardening xx

Shame about the plot - and don't worry about the flower gardening ... must be a lot easier than trying to grow perfect vegetables )t' You'll soon get into the swing of it and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Best of luck

Sounds as though someone hadn't thought things through there.
Let us know how you get on.
