So Dodo is going back to her roots? Getting on a step ladder at dusk is going to be tricky so you def need to break the habit. She is a lovely looking girl and tylan is great for chest problems

Ooh clever girl. So lovely that it was a really bluey one. Dodo is absolutely stunning and so is her egg!
We love our skyline, Wiggy - they are such characters, mad as a box of frogs - and we were delighted that her eggs were blue, although (not to do our girlie down, of course!) Dodo's egg is a more striking colour - Wiggy's are very pale blue.

This was todays harvest from the chicken run - I planted a fig in there last year as it's a bit more sheltered with the tarpaulin on the top of the run and I harvested two figs today - a first for my garden )t'

Just a quick update - all hens together and getting on well - Muriel my last ex-batt seems to be flagging - she had a very severe moult which seems to have taken it out of her and she suddenly looks like an old lady. Hope she makes it through the winter but not that optimistic - been trying to feed her up with lots of protein, poultry spice etc but she just looks tired.

The two new girls have laid all through the winter nearly everyday so had no problems on the egg front - must remember next time I get some new girls to get them late summerish then they just came into lay as winter draws in.

I'm longing for the longer summer days - poor things haven't been out of their run much with the short days and rotton weather. So glad they've got a largish run - would feel terrible if they didn't have much room.

Had to put Muriel in the spare coop today - they've been pecking her back where she's moulted and she's not well - poor old girl. Made her a nice bed and gave her some protein rich supper and put some cream on her back- see what tomorrow brings. :?

Yes I will put some on tomorrow if she's still with me- got some in the kitchen somewhere - it's not just her back though she's gone downhill very quickly - think that's why the others had started to pick on her - they always know first :?
