Fungi in New Zealand...

June was talking about fungi they had seen whilst out walking ...some fabulous photo's
Here

So I thought I'd show you what we found in the paddock...and we're having for tea tomorrow night )grin2(

Looks a much safer bet than June's top picture, though not as pretty.
But are the species the same, so far away, and are they native or introductions?

Im off to collect some mushrooms tomorrow.... and then i shall queue up at the pharmacy for the pharmacy man to check that i have no nasties... yay! )eat(

Had them tonight with Venison steaks, Asparagus and Baked Potato....and they were yummy )t' )eat(

Sara, I wish our pharmacy would do that. Lots of fungi grow in our garden but I am way tooooo scared to eat them. I have a friend who is Thai, she tells me that if you cook a mushroom in with I bit of rice and it tints the colour of the rice then it it poisonous, if it doesn't change the rice colour it is safe to set. I am still afraid to try it.
