The old Rayburn still doing me proud
The old Rayburn still doing me proudIt's about the same age as me, just as worn and battered, but serves me well.
Runs on 30 - 35 lumps of Taybrite and collected wood from 4pm'ish to 8am, then one log takes it through the rest of the day taking the cold off nicely. I use it for slow cooking, roasting egg shells for grit, Chicken Mash etc. On normal winter days I don't need extra heat in the Sitting Room, the warmth just seems to spread everywhere. Nice whiff as well ! Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
Re: The old Rayburn still doing me proudWould love one of those but we haven`t even got a chimney. Know we are lucky to have a roof over our heads but the houses are pretty much just boxes.
Re: The old Rayburn still doing me proudSaying that, I have to admit there are days, because of tired body matter, coming indoors and flicking a switch would be nice

So its Victorian then?
Re: The old Rayburn still doing me proudworn and battered, now just a cast off in the memory of time.
Don't worry, it may take a long time, but I'll get over it. I usually do. Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
Re: The old Rayburn still doing me proudI used to have a Rayburn until the boiler sprang a leak ! We now have a Stanley which is great for hot water and the central heating but non to great for cooking, still can't have everything I spose.

Re: The old Rayburn still doing me proudThe water used to be heated by the Rayburn, not in my time here, but you can just see one of the pipes on the right of it.
The Chimney Sweep always looks at it every year and say's all's well. I know the Landlord would never replace it with any solid fuel appliance as it would mean all the modern legal health and safety chimney linings and everything else. It just keeps rolling along !!
