A plant that bees love

I have seen that bees are in short supply this year but this ice plant gets covered in them. I noted two three different types of bees yesterday and did try to get a pic of them but to get them all in I had to stand too far away and then they didn't show up.

Just a glimpse of one flower head which had five on it at one time. The pic below is one that shows a bee's wings. I thought these quite beautiful.

the conservation lady onthe news the other night said that lavender was very good for them as well. )t'

Ice plant or Sedum. They attract butterflies as well

I think it is a huge concern that bee populations are under threat. We need to plant as many bee friendly plants as possible. If you possibly can, get a hive too - my project for 2014, not bothered about the honey, just the fact they are fascinating, essential creatures.
