Walking will pay off in getting you fit, so it shouldn't be such a struggle longterm. Though the bus is always an option when you are not feeling on top form, or the weather is foul.

Well done.

It's not the fitness levels mo as much as the M.E rearing its ugly head xx

Sorry I don't know much bout M E, except it makes you tired. I see you are about half way through a week of walking to work, and struggling a bit. For what it's worth, Mo is right, if you can get through the short term, the benefits will come long term. When I do a long walk, day 3 and 4 are killers, I struggle to find the energy to get out of bed. But I know I have to because I have to keep going. I focus purely on walking. On day 5 I feel good, day 6 great, and 7, fantastic, and if it goes into days 8 and 9, I feel on top of the world.

Keep trying. Can you take a five minute rest 2 or 3 times during your walk? Carrying bags makes you more tired, have you got a rucksack? It's more comfortable if your hands are free and you can swing your arms. Good luck.

Thanks very your posititivity, it would be good if it worked that way. After, 5 years of m.e walking with a stick coming through that, the threat of a wheelchair coming and coming through that, I know and have to stick to my limitations that my body has. Whilst I walk a mile to school, I get home and have to sleep for two hours, the m.e. seems to come in and out of remission and at present I'm on low energy tanks. I am a very positive person about my illness and I pace myself all the time, I eat a strict diet to make sure I Dont feel the effects, I exercise a lot and have good fitness levels but Unfortunately this last week of walking has now taken its toll.

And please, please Dont take this post I've just made as anything confrontational it absolutely isn't - I hate the way that written word can come across xx

I don't know much about ME either (wondered after I'd posted if I remembered you saying that you had it), except that it's often misunderstood or dismissed.

{hug} Look after yourself and listen to your body. You know it best.

Thanks mo,well I went to the docs yesterday I'm back on the painkillers for a good month and its just a case of resting and light tasks. I have no idea whatsoever what's made it rear its ugly head but I hate it! Anyhow, it'll be grand and ill figure it out xx

Ach! It must be a week for it as my ME has flared up and bitten hard. I feel so very, very drained.

Are you sleeping? I was but seem to have lost the knack again! I may have to switch on the Wii again, something more gentle for exercise is required.

Either that or I'll drive round to yours and we can eat chocolate, pizza and cake, in that order, and just wallow in a pity party :-D

Oh isn't it just a ballache stef?!! I've had enough now I have! I am sleeping about 14 hours a day and I'm just having to do really pace myself, my brother took me out for lunch, I think it was/a ploy to get me out with my walking stick because he knows I hate it, and then I came home and I've been on the couch for the last couple of hours snoozing and watching TV . you take care and I how you feel better soon x
