Strawberries

Post by albertajune »

Not a bush or tree I know, but when is the best time to move the new strawberry plants from last years selected runners? They are already putting out new growth and need moving to a new bed this year.

I put my runners into a little pot of compost beside Mummy plant. I would move them as soon as there's a good root stock on the runners.

I was thinking of moving mine soon.

The bed has become so over grown. The strawberry plants themselves are fine, so I was planning on moving to a new bed cover with a weed suppressing fabric, which I will make small cuts through which to plant the strawberrys.

Assuming summer varieties
Either last August for a crop this year or March/April this year but remove the flowers to allow the plant to establish and develop.
This is for bare root or potted. :-D
No problem can withstand the power of continuous thought.
