Well what a surpriseWell what a surpriseMy parrots have a cardboard box, to rip up, play in and hide in.
Today when I am changing the box. Look what I found !! Little Coco is 23 years old and we have had her since she was 13. Never were quite sure if she was a girl or a boy. We have just called them both girls. Well now we know. It isn't fertile, as they do not live in the same cage and Indiana is still a teenager and a pest to Coco. Provided she doesn't break it, she can have it until she realises it isn't going to hatch. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk

Re: Well what a surpriseWow, that's incredible after all this time
No girls at the moment but look forward to getting more in the future. Proud mummy to Hector, a Bedlington Terrier x Jack Russell
Re: Well what a surpriseAww, bless her, Wendy. Do parrots go broody like chickens? Sorry maybe a bit of a daft question.
Re: Well what a surpriseI am afraid she is and is staying in her box all the time.
I don't think she is eating or drinking enough. But turfing a parrot off the egg involves blood and plasters. Chooks are far easier. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk

Re: Well what a surpriseWow, what a surprise you must have had Wendy. I hope she soon gets fed up with sitting on it and gets back to normal. Any idea as to how often they lay an egg? It has never occurred to me that they do in captivity. Silly old fool

Re: Well what a surpriseYes June I could do without this silliness.
If the cockatiel is anything to go by. Quite a few. But hopefully not. I have scrambled a chickens egg for her and she has eaten a fair bit of that. So that may work for her. I have mailed Indiana's breeder to ask for advice. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Well what a surpriseBless her, one of my Grey's laid an egg at the bottom of her cage a few years ago and it was her pride and joy. She got very fed up after two weeks of it though as she realized nothing was worth missing a cuddle in front of the tv for. I did think about giving her a fertile egg from my breeding pair as I truly believe she would have done a brilliant job
Re: Well what a surpriseYes I am banking on her getting fed up and wanting cuddles instead. She is a real Mummies girl

Re: Well what a surprisePerhaps it's her way of repeating "who's a clever girl then". Are these her first eggs Wendy and what are you doing with them?
