are algae poisonous?

Post by Annemieke »

I have some bottles of local springwater which have been sitting in the sun - which is getting higher and higher these days, after all. The water has turned ever so slightly green. Can we still drink it, do you think?
Thanks! Love, Annemieke.

I'd be a bit concerned if water has been standing around a long time as it might not be just the algae that has been growing. With regards toxicity, there are so many species of which some are toxic and some aren't.

With the issue of water bottles in the sun and things leeching out of the actual plastic I wouldn't drink it add the fact that it's got a green tinge to it and I'd definitely say I wouldn't.

Thanks - and I hadn't thought of the plastic leaching as well! Love A.
