Mice eating strawberries

Post by Bridgets Mum »

Anyone any ideas how I can dissuade my thriving mouse population from eating my strawberries? They look quite charming sitting on their haunches with a strawberry between their paws but I really would like a few for myself. Florence, the ace mouser chicken would probably make short work of them, but the idea of her in the veg patch is decidedly alarming.

The lesser of two evils I think!!

Can you move the strawberries?

The only other thing is to sink something around them.

Sounds like the battle has commenced.

Sorry I can't help you more, perhaps try something smelly they don't like placed around them.

I found this website page.. http://www.ehow.com/about_4621300_what-scent-repels-mice.html
The Tabasco one looks interesting.

Mice, rats and birds certainly are pests

Just come in from the garden for a quick cuppa. Been weeding my strawberries, no sign of anything getting at them as none of them are ripe yet. :-D

Thanks for the advice, and particularly for the smelly link Richard. I shall experiment with a few potions and let you know if any work.
I counted 25 strawberries yesterday evening, about 5 of which were starting to ripen. This morning there was just one small green one left. Grrrr! I'm going to try some sort of physical barrier too when I get round to inventing and constructing it, hopefully before the later strawberries think about producing fruit.
I think I'm doing a bit too well on the encouraging wildlife thing!
