They were rare around here years ago but 'millions' of them now - same as Jays and Kites. All the corvids are doing well with road kill.

Oooo, very similar, maybe they are, there's hundreds of them about.
Certainly very noisy.

I have a photo of a Sparrowhawk devouring one.

There's a Jay who pops into the front garden about the same time every evening.

They are definitely Jackdaws and not crows.

Just remembered when I was knee high to a Grasshopper and lived with Gran, when she used to hang the washing out a Jackdaw used to come and sit on her shoulder if it could to get at the wart she had on her neck!

Jackdaw used to love it, Gran not so keen on the game. I remember thinking it was quite funny though and getting told off.

They will steal anything shiny too. R takes her rings off when she kneads bread and leaves them by the open window so I move them and forget to tell her. On Waiheke Island in New Zealand our holiday cottage had some large flightless Parrots in the area - very friendly and now extremely rare. Very destructive too - they will strip the rubber off your windscreen wipers for example and someone stole one of my beach shoes

Yes, I'd say Keas too. I didn't know they were rare though.
