Another dog walk, another mystery tree!Apologies for asking for identification yet again! Another dog walk in the sun today at Haughmond Hill Forestry Commission has seen me puzzling over yet another tree!
Thank you again lovely people x No girls at the moment but look forward to getting more in the future. Proud mummy to Hector, a Bedlington Terrier x Jack Russell
Re: Another dog walk, another mystery tree!Looks to me like some sort of nut tree, but I could be completely wrong as truthfully, I have no idea

Re: Another dog walk, another mystery tree! It's a Beech with it's seed pods (Beech Mast) on it. Pigs love 'em.
They taste a bit like Hazel nuts but are smaller. Dom Ali Woks My World
Re: Another dog walk, another mystery tree! Thanks again Dom! Helen, that's as much as I had figured too - trying (and failing) to sound like I knew what I was talking about to hubby " oh it's definitely a nut! Not sure which, will take a piccy and ask on The Lane!"

Re: Another dog walk, another mystery tree!Yes, definitely beech. The nuts are edible apparently (did they used to use roasted nuts as a coffee substitute in the war?)
