Valentina

Post by wendy »

Now I am getting Miss Tilly behaving like a good little girl.
I was asked yesterday to take on Valentina.
She is incredibly depressed and doesn't even want to go out of her kennel for a walk, poor baby. She is very nervous, as apposed to Tilly who was just a little shy. She has bitten.
Anyway I had her out in the field )c( for an hour. Quite a bit of laying down and not wanting to move. But after I had asked if I could be in charge. She said yes and we got there )grin2(
When I got her back to her kennel, I discovered she loves a game of catch the treat..............gotcha, she is mine now. Now I know what brings her out we will get somewhere.
Here is a photo of the lovely girl. She is a GSD cross about 4 years old.

I feel so for these dogs. Sad that all they want to do is please but are so mistreated, not only physically but emotionally.

I think it is wonderful what you are doing Wendy and you do have a natural rapport with dogs. All the training in the world won't give someone what you have naturally. I do hope that the dogs you are helping, will be the dogs that someone will want to give a forever home to. They are both beautiful dogs and you must find it very rewarding to see the difference that you are making to them. {hug}

She's beautiful. She can come back from a bite.

What is it you do with dogs Wendy? Do you foster?

Mo : they give me a purpose. I have no longer have any hope or future.
But I am going to give them a future, by making them adoptable..

Pixie Dust. I volunteer at the NAWT. I go in an hour per day, per dog.
I have only been going there for 6 weeks tomorrow and have had Tilly, a GSD, from the beginning.
Both the dogs are considered 'red zone'

How fabulous. Such a rewarding thing to do.

I started the Canine and Behavior Training course because my dog, as I explained to you, is very nervous. Never been mistreated and highly socialised, but the minute we moved he became a bag of nerves. Taken over 2 years to get him to be nearly settled. Rather I had him than a novice or cruel owner as he is a very loving dog.

Valentina has such a lovely face. I am sure she was so pleased to get her game today :-D

Wendy, Valentina is gorgeous. You have such a lot of love to give to these dogs, it would be a shame to waste it. Big hugs, they need you. {hug}

I found out today that she is a Romanian rescue.
So I now can understand her mistrust of people as their treatment of dogs is appalling.
So most of the hour was just spent trying to build her trust in me. Initially I was mostly stroking her rear :? But a couple of times she looked at me AND wagged her tail. She finds it hard to look at people, just totally turned off ! But once she forgot herself and pushed her head into my lap for her head to be stroked. She made me cry....not difficult today.
