17/10/14 and I saw.....

Post by Gwenoakes »

a Ladybird on my porch window just now. Anyone else seen one?

Also apologies for not being on here much, been working......hard, decorating kitchen and also roofing work, big time. What with these things and selling house as well, not much time left. Oh and my blooming puter keeps playing up, I have to log in each time I come on and then it only sometimes lets me post once or twice then goes off.......Grrrrrrrr

Hope everyone is OK as we are here and isnt the weather just lovely, 17 deg here today, long may it last.

I also found a ladybird today, in the kitchen, also lots of big fat flies that seem to
have woken up now. Yesterday I also spotted a huge queen hornet disappearing
into the eves of the garage! we'll have to look out for that in the spring!

When we moved into this house in mid-November last year we had an infestation of ladybirds in our bedroom - they were living in a holly tree outside the window. We have had a few in the last couple of weeks but not nearly as many as last year.

Reading last week's paper, I learnt that a group of ladybirds is a loveliness )like(
No girls at the moment but look forward to getting more in the future. Proud mummy to Hector, a Bedlington Terrier x Jack Russell

I saw three yesterday, two red with black spots and one black with red spots. It seemed very late for them to be out and about and I hope they've all found somewhere safe to hide as now it's chucking it down here!

Well my computer cuts out I find that I often forget to tick the 'keep me logged in box' when I log in again, so have to do it each time.

I saw some wild strawberries ripening on the self sown plant on our drive yesterday.

Keep at it; hope the house sells soon and smoothly.

Hi All. Yes I saw a ladybird, day before yesterday. It didn't have any spots!. I have only had one cricket indoors this year, and it was brown. Haven't seen a green one. Worrying,
There are a lot of devils coach horses about. Have seen them around the house and one inside. Sinister looking beasties! When they threaten they open their huge jaws, and flick their tails up like a scorpions sting.
There was an ichneumon in the porch the other day, and the yellow ophions have started coming indoors. Here there are almost as many as craneflies. Also of course lots of pretty moths. Shall have to get a guide for lepi's. Isn't it funny that the same insects tend to come indoors? I must admit to a thing about earwigs. When they are running backwards and forwards across the floor all evening it usually means they are infected with a worm which thought tends to make me go all uugh!

Not a ladybird but a caterpillar (well several)!
Think they are cabbage whites, on a Nasturtium.

Two butterflies on the pink Vibernum flowers. One was a Red Admiral, but they wouldn't both keep still at the same time. And it's November now.

I have now seen another two Ladybirds, both in the back porch. Must be a favourite place for them.

We have lots of flies also, including big Bluebottles, YUK.

Garden's been full of ladybirds over the last couple of days it's been so amazingly mild. And long may it last as it's saving loads from not having the heating on yet!
