RIP our beautiful Bella

Post by Gwenoakes »

I have been building up to putting this thread up all day.

Bella our beautiful Staffie was pts at home last Fri morning. She started to go downhill Weds p.m. and I spoke to the vet Thurs a.m. after putting her back on the Metacam as she seemed uncomfortable/in pain. During that conversation we agreed we would give her a few more days to see if the pain relief worked, but by lunchtime on Thurs I rang to ask them to come on Fri, (I had to give a days notice as the vets are a good hour away from us) this was after reading the report from the biopsies twice more, realising I wasnt keeping her for her sake, but for mine and it just wasnt fair on her.

It was very, very peaceful, no fuss, no fighting, no nothing in fact, she just slipped quickly and peacefully away to Rainbow Bridge with the help of our lovely vet.

Now I have just realised I already have a thread up for her...........sorry.

So sorry, Gwen, it is such a wrench, and having to make the decision is so heartbreaking. It hurts so much to lose a beloved pet. {hug}

I am so sorry to hear about Bella, it's such a hard thing to do and I don't think you realise when you have a dog just how painful it is to lose them, until you do {hug}

The good thing is that you managed to find a vet who would come to your home which I'm sure made it much easier for you and for Bella.

I can still remember when we had a similar painful decision to make with Mishka our labrador and our vet couldn't come to our house for at least 3 days. As we couldn't bear to see her in pain for a further 3 days we had no choice but to take her to the vet's surgery, a place that always scared her, even 18mths down the line it's still a decision we are not comfortable with :?

Yes much the best way, especially as she didn't like vets.

We have no more animals of our own, Bella was the last one, however we do have all Clare's though, so will still be kept busy.
