Why do my car brakes judder?

Post by Mo »

They only do it in our lane, but when we start out, drive the few yards from the end of the drive and stop at the turning onto the road it makes a funny juddering noise. The as I come home again and slow down to turn into the drive (clutch down, brakes on) we sometimes hear it again.
Don't notice it anywhere else and the brakes seem to work OK.

Could be the brake pads starting to go.

Mine went about three years ago, for quite a while it wasn't very noticeable, then suddenly, they were really clanking.

I think a visit to a Garage would be safest Mo.

The garage couldn't find anything, and I came to the conclusion it was probably the anti locking coming on. The lane had recently been resurfaced and there were a lot of fallen leaves - didn't do it anywhere else.
