Nice to see Ladybirds

Post by Richard »

I was weeding around the Lupin plant this morning and there were about six of them sunning themselves on the leafs.

Only a few feet away from the Veggie Patch - so good news !!

Tht's nice Mo.

I've seen a few here, just the normal but saw a Brimstone in my daughter's garden last week. Beautiful.

We saw an Orange Ladybird during the week, sunning itself on a pile of growbags in a local sell-it-all shop! Hubby was convinced that it was a rare, unusual ladybird until I googled it and shattered his illusions! Pretty little thing.
No girls at the moment but look forward to getting more in the future. Proud mummy to Hector, a Bedlington Terrier x Jack Russell

I get quite a range of colours. Red with black spots, black with red or yellow spots, yellow with black spots. The ones I saw as a child were all red w black spots - maybe these are country ladybirds and they were Londoners.

We found loads on the allotment yesterday too, nice to see. If they are still around in such numbers next time I'm up there, a dozen might have to be relocated to my polytunnel!

Lots around the garden today although much, much cooler today than it has been so wonder if they will disappear and come back when it is warm again. I love seeing them, takes me right back to being a child when my Grandad used to tell me that the spots were the number of children they had to feed, so to be kind to them ..... Lovely memory {hug&kiss}
