Strawberries in tubs

Post by albertajune »

I brought a few strawberry plants from the allotment that we are giving up this year. It was either move them to our other allotment or bring them home. I planted up 3 short troughs and they are doing so well, in fact better fruit. Probably because they get more attention here, so home more will come.
No guessing what is for pud this evening.

Ooh June, enjoy your pudding. We have a couple of plants in a large tub, not ripe yet, but OH picked three from our strawberry beds for tea - a taster anyway.

Watch out for the cheeky blackbirds - they seem to know when the strawberries are just right for picking. Enjoy )t'

Our strawberries are both strawed and netted, but the birds still find their way in, but with difficulty, and we don't get too many damaged ones.

Touch wood, nothing has got at mine yet, either here or on the allotment. Something to look out for though as I have seen magpies in the field opposite.

Our tub of strawberries in the greenhouse is way behind the two outside beds.

We have had a good picking from our 3 tubs and still the fruit comes. The fruit is far better than the plants left on the allotment.
