Unusual Beetle

Post by albertajune »

I have just found this beetle on an old piece of wood in the garden. It is about 3/4in long and its head and legs were a bit muddy, so probably lives on or near the ground I have searched my books but can't find him or her.

Any ideas as what it is?

I think I've got it! Have a look at The green rose chafer (Cetonia aurata)
There are a couple of others similar, but this one has that furry bit underneath

Very green!
I keep finding a shield bug on my shoulderbag when I've been picking apples. Just looked it up (not as shiny as yours) I think it's a Hawthorn Shieldbug

Definitely a green rose chafer which is a scarab beetle. After your suggestion Ilona I googled it and found a very interesting video of U-tube. Apparently it lives on fruit, nectar and pollen.
It was really -forgive the pun- bugging me as to what it was. )t'

I rescued one last year from drowning in the goldfish bath.

They are very pretty, indeed. )t'
