I started weeding the spud patch, but while I turned my back to pick apples a new growth appeared. So 1/3 of the patch has old weeds, 1/3 new annual weeds, & 1/3 has the new weeds dug in as green manure.
After all the picking I'm not keen to dash out in the damp - it has to be clear skies with a bit of sun to tempt me.

OH is one step ahead of you Richard! He has taken all our runner bean poles down, and started to dig the ground over, but we have had rain and more rain for several days, and on our clay-type soil, it is just too wet to appear with a fork.

Yes, tidied. I still find garden waste to put in my brown bin though, mainly keeping the bushes and hedges trimmed. To get ready for spring I will be getting rid of the pallet raised beds and looking for second hand bricks to build borders so I can grow flowers next year.

As things have been finishing ,i have forked the beds over ,forked in rotted compost and covered with black plastic and weighted down .The plastic warms the ground in the spring and keeps any late weeds away ,though potatoes will always find away .I have dug a trench where my beans will go and filled with well rotted muck ,covered with soil and then the plastic ,i have a permanent bean pole where i grow in same place every year saves dismantling and runner beans don't suffer from being grown in the same place ,one of the few that don't mind.

Gosh everyone's efficient!

I finished off raking up the leaves yesterday and made a few more bag fulls for leaf mould.

The Greenhouses are all tidy.

Just the digging over to do, but next year I'm halving the space I use, got a bit much for me this year.

We had a tidy up at the weekend and cut back all the roses. It's been so windy we were concerned they would get damaged. The veg patch is empty now though apart from a couple of leeks so that still needs a good digging over.

Still waiting for Spring up here... nonstop heavy rain and a high of 8C today. One day in the garden this year so far. I am not amused. )gr:
