One of my girls has been off colour for about a week . Today she is making a Strange movement with her head difficult to describe! Sort of sideways move. Anyone got any suggestions?

She is moving her crop about. Check to see if it is solid ,squishy. Breath smells .
When you fingd out stick it on forum and someone will advise on treatment.
I have a girl that does it all the time called Rockie .
I give her a massage and she seems ok .

She could be moving her crop about like Bob suggests - does she look like she's swinging herself about. She could just be helping things along, or she could have a crop problem. As Bob advises, check her crop tonight and first thing in the morning - crop should be full tonight, relatively firm to touch (but not dead hard) and empty tomorrow.

If she's shaking her head from side to side, she could have a respiratory problem or a cold (type of thing), or even something like a blade of grass stuck somewhere.

Can you describe what she's doing a bit more fully?

Thank you I will check this in the morning. It's a bit of a strange sideways sort of movement with her head and she has been very quiet and not moving much for two days. I thought I would try massage and epsomsalts bath tomorrow. Any other tips wwould be much appreciated everyone. Thank you

How is she today? Is she showing any other symptoms like panting, raspy breaths, snotty nose? And how does her crop feel?

Hi all. Still doing OK, moving head in the same side ways sort of movement. Massaged crop feels normal. Breathing normally. Eating but just not herself. The other girls are not bothering her but she is getting shoved out of the way when food is around.

Hi ,Weigh her a big girl should be at 1,8kilos -2,2kilos
If she is below 1.5 and loosing weight -vets.
Check it daily at the same time as she eats will weigh more .
Smell her breath as it smells if sour crop. (Feed her on her own to make sure she is getting plenty -Try sweet corn if she does not take her treats that is also a sign of something wrong . Dont leave to late as system shuts down and then not much help can be given .
Do not panic but watch her for signs .

Doesn't sound like a crop problem then.

Okay, here are some more questions then:

How old is she?
When did she lay/ how is she doing with laying?
When was she last wormed, and with what?
What are her poos like?
When did she last moult?
Is she eating okay? (You say she is)

I take it you checked her for lice and found nothing?

Hi everyone thank you for all your suggestions. Unfortunately took her to the vet today and no good news so he put her to sleep. Down to three girls from five but don't have the heart to introduce any new girls at present. Thanks again

Did the vet say what it was?
