Foxes and cats

Post by Bluefinch »

Yesterday evening I looked out into the garden and was surprised to see my cat Pip and a fox eyeing each other up within about 3 metres of one another. The fox didn't seem bothered when he saw me nor did Pip seem bothered. Having just lost my two hens presumably to the fox - is he a risk to my cat or will they just respect each other?

I don't think foxes are normally a problem with cats

Hi

I used to watch Big Ron face up to them. Similar situation, they'd stand a few meters apart staring at each other.

The fox would always, after a while, step backwards a few steps, turn and scamper off.

Foxes are usually seen off by them.

I wouldn't worry.

Hi , My cats chase the foxes up the street. I think the foxes know that they cannot afford to get hurt and rather catch mice ,rats and birds .
Cats know that the fox will run so fear them little.
My Mastiff is scared no terrified of my large cat Darcey . He can scare me at times .
