2 main ones I use all the time and the others tend to be as spares for down time when the main ones break down, I do need a long arm industrial and a cylinder industrial when I get some more space in my workshop, Oz

Hi I pocess a box cabinet singer that comes up through the top (Mums Industrial type ) -(dress Maker is it a queens dress maker top dollar sewer )
Also got one from a skip at work . plastic top ,Singer . Works but needle does not go through bottom . Now it could be a wrong needle or it could be something is not quite right .
Was going to take to a mender for a quote Nice m/c to get skipped for sure . if it works at lot of people would take it for sure .
Any suggestion I might have a go at fixing it my self .

Could be the the timing which means re setting the needle bar.
Do you have a manual with it to help you?
Do you know how to reset/check timing?

Hi, No manual . But sounds good what you say -like a car pistons hitting the valves ....
But somebody in the know could fix ,so is worth pursuing and putting in a shop .
Next question then is where .
Thank you .

Yes, if the timings out it does liken to pistons in a car's engine rising at the wrong time and smashing in to a valve!

Hope you get it sorted, I replaced a needle bar and reset the timing about 6 months ago, occasionally the timing slips out a little if I'm machining cable parachutes as it often works the machine very hard and that misaligns the needlebar. It pays to re check it now and again, Oz

I expect it will cost too much to post it, I have had several sewing machines given to me for free, they don't seem to hold much value unfortunately. If you are ever down this way, drop in for a cuppa and we will have a look at it, see what we can do.
