I've never tried them.
Do they taste different?
They look ugly, I like a juicy peach I can sink my teeth into......
but I only buy them in June, before my plums / greengages /damsons / then apples are ripe.
Everything in its season.(I don't want autumn raspberries either) )ot:

I'd never seen any flat peaches until this summer. The ones I have bought have tasted wonderful, not noticed any lately, and I forgot to get peaches of any description last weekend.

When I wasa child peaches came in tins and you had then on Sunday, with rice pudding, or in a fruit salad at Christmas.

flat peaches are definitely easier to eat and they taste the same. My local fruits and veggies shop sold them earlier on in the year.
