WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMS
WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMSI found some mushrooms across the road: they smelled lovely, rather like field mushrooms but better. They looked rather like field mushrooms as well, but brown, no ring, and with a markedly hollow stem. I searched the internet but could not find them anywhere.
My husband took a bite and they tasted good too. So I fried them up for breakfast and am alive to send this email. My question is: when a mushroom smells so tasty and edible, does that mean it IS edible? Please let me know what you would have done yourself, I won't hold you responsible if things go wrong! Re: WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMSI cannot answer your question but at the local farmers market here there is one person that sells all sorts of mushrooms and fungi that he has picked from the wild. We have tried several and it is surprising how distinctive and varied the flavours are.
I do not have the confidence to pick the wild ones we see growing here but would love for someone to take me out on a voyage of discovery so I could learn more about which are safe to eat and which are not. "Not all those who wander are lost"
Re: WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMSWhen searching for identification I found quite a few sites which offered courses and tours. I just checked where you live: maybe not in Bulgaria .....

Re: WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMS
In short ...No You can get so many fungi that smell lovely and taste great but are poisonous....we used to have field mushrooms for breakfast at work on Sunday mornings that one of my colleagues picked from the grounds ....one day she obviously picked the wrong ones and the stomach pains I had were indescribable!! You need to be really sure on your ident because it could go horribly wrong. ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)✰

Re: WILD EDIBLE MUSHROOMSOh dear! My neighbour found filed mushrooms which gave him a tummy ache, but to us they did not look right - can't remember the smell. They were a little bit on the pink side.
