question for owners of female cats

Post by Freeranger »

Out of curiosity, do they have mad half hours? Ours were boys and ran about madly for a short while every day. We're pet-sitting for our friends, whose two boy cats do the same while the girl cat looks all scared and disdainful, and hisses at them when they do it.

Is it just her? Do other girl cats chase about as well?

Years ago I had a female who had mad sessions, doing a tour of the living room via the backs or chairs! My last two cats were female, but they were placid.

We have had 5 cats. Two female.
But I can honestly say, once past the little kitten stage.
None of then had mad half hours etc. The last one died in 1993. Perhaps it is the modern cats )grin2(

But my daughter has had 5 altogether [ males and females] and they had them. Usually around 4 in the morning lol

I have had cats for around 35yrs now and at one time had 15 (all rescues). A cat is a cat and irrespective of s.ex, if it wants to go for a mad session it will.

I have two young ladies, came at different times. The first one (Mayze) didn't like the second one (Heidi) encroaching on her territory. She gives her the evil eye and every so often there is a kerfuffle and much running about, sounds like a herd of elephants sometimes. It only lasts a minute. Mayze is in the habit of running everywhere, darts past me, almost tripping me up sometimes. Watch out if they get under your feet.

Yes it's normal for cats to do that.

Just her, then: Grumpy Knickers.

Thanks for all the answers. Interesting.

I had the most gorgeous grey Persian who, as a young cat, grabbed a piece of tinsel that was hanging on the tree, and then ran round and around the room with it trailing behind, bouncing off all the furniture and using my Mum's large tummy as a springboard. Every time I see tinsel I smile :-D

Cats gonna cat. Forreal. It's just how they cat. My boys have a mad half hour in the morning, or I call it 'trippin' b*lls*. Like Thing 1 and Thing 2, they run up! They run down! They run here! They run there! And then they lick themselves like 'totally meant to do that' and walk off like nothing happened.

Why are cats?
