Cockeral spurs

Post by stokes49er »

My Bantum cockerel needs his spurs clipped. Any advice on how to do this?

I use dog claw clippers, they are pretty tough to cut. Be careful if you take off too much they will bleed, I only take the points off myself so I dont hit the quick - unfortunately they seem to grow back quite quick though! If you need to take more off for some reason you'll need more experienced advice than me.

His spurs are like Mammoth tusks. Hidden by his feathers. I realised how dodgy they were when he got caught up on the feeder! Thanks anyway Kiti
