Re: Max - Our rescued Street DogHow is Max getting on, Trev?
Re: Max - Our rescued Street Dog
Sorry for taking so long to reply Gwenoakes. You would not know there was anything wrong with him unless you knew him! He bounces around for his morning walk (a much shorter one now though) then on returning he happily digs his hole deeper and wider before curling up in it to sleep. His lack of energy is then noticeable for the rest of the day, I think that sometimes we see things that are not there as well but his appetite is hit and miss, that worries us as being half kangal he used to eat all the time, now we have to entice him with different foods but his weight loss has stabilized. We towel him down a lot at present to keep him cool due to the heat, an experience he thoroughly enjoys Really it is just a horrible waiting game where you try and make as many enjoyable times as you can along the way. Re: Max - Our rescued Street DogBe in the moment and enjoy every one and make nice memories.
Re: Max - Our rescued Street DogThank you for updating, Trev.
I wonder if he likes water. The reason I ask is dogs cool down from their paws, so if he likes water a paddling pool would do the job for him. Make as many precious memories as you can, so that in time you can remember them more than anything else.
Re: Max - Our rescued Street DogHi Trev how is Max hope he is still OK.

His weight has now stabilized which we are pleased with though he is also getting a lot more treats than he would normally be allowed and he enjoys a bowl of yoghurt followed by courgette bread most mornings. He gets walked in the morning still but the length of it varies according to how he is coping, problem is when I leave him behind and head out alone with my other dog all he does is sit and howl until we return! Nothing my Better Half can do stops him and keeps him quiet even when we swapped roles the result was the same
He will still have a short play with Casey (my BSD) or a stomp at the odd chicken who tries to share his bread/toast but at present (if not in his mud hole) he enjoys laying down and watching over our two new rabbits. It is at times like that you think there is nothing wrong with him. Forgot to mention we have doubled his cod liver oil and glucosamine intake in the hope it eases the arthritis and joint pain, it works for me so it cannot do any harm.
