Spotted Flycatchers nesting down the Lane

Post by Richard »

The youngster over the Lane came over and told me there's a nest on the Mill House wall running adjacent to the Lane.
Turns out to be Spotted Flycatchers, a real treat and first time I've seen them in the actual Lane, there are quite a few at the Lakes nearby.

I had one peep at the nest from a safe distance and noticed two heads poking out, didn;t take a photo of them nor have I approached it since, so not to disturb the parents who are in and out all day !

One of the parents.....

Love the photo Richard!! How lucky to have them so close by, always a joy to see them. We usually see them in the cemetery next to our allotment any time now feeding up before they leave us again.

They fledged two days ago. Here's a youngster..

A cemetery would be a good place, Ivy, walls etc.

As you say, not long before they're off to Africa, so feed up birdies !!
