Need a new body

Post by albertajune »

I suffer will Atrial Fibrillation which is usually kept under contol, although I do have the occasioal visit to A&E with it. Had an episode start Weds which needed paramedics to access me as it had been going on for 10 hrs. I didn't have to go to hospital as my heart steaded at 100beats per min.
Mine is usually under 60 and even now is still going at 80. Feel a bit washed out. I have asked to be referred back to the cardio unit as my medication now seems to do nothing.
Am still waiting for injections in my back and have just had a call from my GP to say that the numbness in my feet is possibly a lack of vit B12. A blood test has shown that I am deficient in it and I must have injections 3 times a week for at least 3 weeks.
Do I sound fed up? Well I am!! Hopefully the next week will have me sounding more cheerful. my biggest worry is not for me but my poor dog, cat and chicken who are not getting enough attention.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

{hug} gosh, you are in the wars. If you are low in vitamin B12, it might explain some of your overall symptoms - vit B12 works on the nerves so should help to calm your heart rate and help feel less depressed. Hope you feel better soon {hug}

Thanks LL. I thought I had a healthy diet but there can be another reason for my body not absorbing the vitamin. Lack of this vit could also explain my blurred vision and why I am tired so much. I have been complaining of numbness in my feer for over a year but just last week had a blood test. I know I sound a sad old thing but it has just got on top of me. You can see why I need a new body, besides it not looking too good now {rofwl}

Ahhh, June, sorry to hear this. Hopefully they will be able to adjust your meds to help, and the B12 thing can make a big difference. I keep having tests to check mine

Oh dear.
Sorry to hear all this.
I take vitamin B as I have had trigeminal neuralgia. I am sure once they have sorted out your meds. things will be fine.

It is not uncommon for people over 60 - something to do with the stomach not producing enough acid to aid in the absorption of the vitamin - so even a well balanced diet or supplement might not be enough which is why injections are recommended. Foods rich in vitamin B12 are found in meat, fish and eggs - liver in particular is rich in vitamin B12 where it is stored - those on vegan diets are especially at risk of not having enough of the vitamin and should take supplements.

Feeling much better thank you Richard. Finished my 3 times a week injections and thank goodness no longer asleep on my feet.
I have now got a referal back to the cardiac dept as my last Atrial Fibrilaion episode lasted for 3 days which was worrying. On researching about low vitamin B12 I have found out that it can cause palpitations so my normal AF may have been made worse at that time.
As I said I could do with a new body. Preferably one a bit younger.
