Can't do Christmas this year

Post by albertajune »

On the 8th Dec I picked up a flu like virus which besides flu like gave me a tender tummy. I had to go to my GP a week ago and was put on antibiotics for bronchitis. Trust me to get side effects! After a couple of days I had thrush in my mouth and an an awful episode of not being to leave the loo. Antibiotics are now changed but feel as though I have been used as a punch bag and eat just because I have to.
My sister who comes to me for Christmas dinner has the same virus and can't face food. We have decided that we will give Christmas a miss and enjoy the food at a later date. Maybe New Year.
I hope other Laners escape this bug which is spreading around and seems to go on forever. Things can only get better!!
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

That's a bit of a bummer, June. So sorry that you feel rotten. Nice food can be eaten at any time, enjoy at a later date with your sis.

Oh June.
What a shame.
But to be honest, it is just another day, for those of us without the love of our lives, to get through. I find it very hard going. Head down and get through it
Much love, I hope you feel better soon.

Been thinking of how you are at this time. Almost glad that I am on my own with my pets of course. Christmas brings back so many memories. {hug} {hug}

So sorry to read that you are sick, June. Get well soon, and your sister also.

This has been a bitter-sweet Christmas for me, with OH being so very ill. One wonders....

Much better but still not completely gone. Whatever we had really knocked the stuffing from us. Each day I look forward to tomorrow.

Oh June, I know just how you feel. I started with a sickness (and other end yike* )bug on the Saturday night before Christmas. Being sick every hour throughout the night and then by hubbie started early hours of the morning. For 3 days we just about managed to get up to take the dog out and sort out the chickens before we were worn out and had to have another sleep. Had to cancel my mum and dad coming Christmas day and we hardly ate anything for about 3 or 4 days. Finally got a bit of energy back the following Saturday in time to come back into work yesterday. Not the best Christmas ever but I certainly don't need a New Year diet )app(

Hope you are on the road to recovery Kath. People are still feeling very poorly with it here and it seemed to go on forever. My bronchitis soon cleared up but even now the mouth thrush from the first lot of antibiotics has not gone completely. We all need a bit of sunshine to lift our spirits. Take care {hug} {hug}

Glad to hear that all who had this nasty bug have got over it to some extent. We have all had bugs, cold, funny tummy etc from which Clare is still suffering with a really hacking cough 3 weeks down the line. Got to admit though, says I who at this moment.........is touching the wooden desk, that I got over it all very quickly compared to some.
I took honey and lemon for the cough I had which I like anyway and it was very soothing for my sore throat too, also have started taking Turmeric some weeks back in capsule form, so not sure if that has anything to do with it not lasting long. Who knows, eh?
