Two Golden Oldies on TV

Post by Spreckly »

For those of us over a certain age, The Duchess of Duke Street which was on one of the Freeview channels before Christmas is now on again weekdays from 5 - 6pm. I am glued to it, loving the beautiful costumes, and the excellent acting, by Gemma Jones in particular.

This afternoon, The Onedin Line is on a Freeview channel from 1pm. I shall be glued to this also, partly for the wonderful theme music.

It is so refreshing to hear every spoken word, and see filming in a decent light instead of semi darkness.

)like( Two very enjoyable golden oldies for sure. I agree with you about the sound and lighting of todays dramas. I get so fed up with not hearing what is being said because of the quiet mumbling that I often give up watching.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

I remember The Duchess of Duke Street very well. Watched a lot of that back in the day. I don't know why they don't do this with more oldies. I'd watch those over anything current.
I think Zotrim is a great alternative so check it out.

I've been watching lots of old 'Goodnight Sweetheart' episodes.

There are many golden oldies (depending on taste of course).

Never watched Goodnight Sweetheart, but The Onedin Line is my Saturday afternoon treat. Four hours of viewing, and the music is wonderful.

The Duchess of Duke Street still on at teatime, so we have to be sitting at the table for 5pm sharp!

I see 'Gold' are showing The Good Life, watched two last night.

It's strange, maybe because of subject matter, it seemed quite relevant to today !
