Dal - India's super food

Post by fabindia »

Dal, also spelled daal, dhal, is India's super food. Basically it is lentil stew, so provides protein, carbs, fibre and vitamins. In UK, you may find Tarka Dal on the menu at an Indian restaurant but there are probably hundreds of different dal recipes. I bought a small paperback cook book in India with over 40 different recipes for dal. The only problem can be finding the various ingredients.

I do a lot of Indian and Thai cooking and go on line to find unusual ingredients.
