rehoming in car park

We had nowhere to accomodate the latest release of hens so we had to use the car park in a garden centre, with their permission of course. Luckily they had two car parks so we had room to 'set up' which consisted of 3 large dog crates! The hens came in their usual crates so we took a few hens out of each and popped in the dog crates so they were not left too squashed. When the rehomers turned up we got the hens out of the crates first which was a 2 woman job as as soon as we opened the crates about 4 heads would pop out! One lady to retrieve a girl the other to keep the others in although we did have two escapees which made a bid for freedom around the car park, both were cunningly caught, phew! It was a sunny day and luckily we had shade from a hedge but to make more room for the waiting girls we decided to each hold a girl, one little love just dozed off in my arms and I wouldnt let her go to until a rehomer I really took to came :-D

Not idea but at least the girls didnt go to slaughter, and we did amuse the customers who thought we were doing some sort of boot sale with hens {rofwl}

Maybe try a super market car park ( convert many to Veggies...)

Oh gosh - Bless those little souls. You and the volunteers do such a marvellous job. It warms my heart to know there are still such wonderful people out there helping these little creatures. )like(
