Building A Fence!
Hi Stace, I have just had a wander down memory lane and found Ilona's pics on page 38 of the chicken keeping thread. The thread is " a chicken keeping lesson"
No pics of the fence, unfortunately but lovely pics of my chickens and Bluebell's cockerels AND I HAD GRASS!!!! The trellis I used was fancy solid stuff but I'm sure cheaper expanding trellis and chicken wire would do the same thing. I nearly did that myself until I saw my "bargains". Good luck Jackie xx
Yes, thanks for taking the time to do that, LL.
It really takes me back. The chickens look all shiny and young (and clean) Unfortunately the fencing you CAN see is just the normal garden fence. Sorry. I PM'd Ilona but she hasn't got any of the fence. They had grass once!!!!! I still have grass but even that is starting to go with all the toing and froing to the chickens LOL Jackie xx
Same here Jackie!
Its like tram tracks from the back door to the bottom LOL Mr stace is not a happy bunny! His lawn is his pride and joy! He has threatened the BBQ to the girls today they went off to bed most upset Stace Bev xx

Thats a great idea Derra! I have pallets!
How did your fence hunting go this weekend Stace? x 2 children, half a springer Spaniel, a Hamster, 2 Goldfish and an allotment. And a very excited, now mummy of some chickens again, Daisey, Dotty and Master Yoda!
A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion!
I have just built a fence around our vegtable patch...
i use pallets from a building site, they are well formed strong and the perfect height. (4ft) they are normally boareds nailed to 3 larger suport's all i did was cut the boareds to a point and hammered them 6 inches into the ground (suports running horisontal, boardes vertivcaly banged in) i got 47 of them they are 4ft by 4ft = total length in straight line 188ft i paid £0.00 as they normaly fill there skip that costs them £50 disposal fee. will take a few pics and post them. we also made a gate out of one, cut 6 1/2 inches off one end of boareds and and with hidges it sits the same height as the rest with 1/2 gap for clearence and just put a bolt on the other side. total cost was about £3 for hinges and bolt + a lot of sawing and hammering Some friends are like a slinky, boring till you push them down the stairs.

There is a lovely elderly man that lives over the road, he has today been to measure up the garden and is going to do the fence for us He will make it all there then they will carry it over to us! Bless! We were talking to him about eggs then onto the subject of the fence he said " I CAN DO THAT FOR YOU NO PROBLEM" Hopefully starting it next week! Mr stace is very pleased with that! He said "YAY I CAN HAVE MY GARDEN BACK" Will keep you all updated! Stace Bev xx
