Preparing for the Credit Crunch

I’m lucky, I have no mortgage, no savings, no salaried income, no Credit Cards, but I have a good life!
It would seem that the only way I could be affected would be with rising prices, but being slightly better off than I have been for a few years, I know how to go back down again and to some extent, how to survive it.
So, it’s a good time to look at your finances and prepare. If you find the money you saved wasn’t necessary, you can have a good holiday or a new Car !
The main areas on cutting back must be….
Home Energy.
Just following a few easy thing’s can cut your fuel bills down and if you are aren’t under any fixed term Contract, it’s worth having a look at other Suppliers. They’re usually falling over each other to produce the best deal. It’s a good time to do this.
Transport
Do you absolutely have to have two cars? If you do, is it necessary to have the types of Cars you do. Smaller engines = less Road Tax = less petrol = less Insurance
Food
Stock up, fill the freezer and use some of those empty Cupboard Drawers to store the Potatoes !!
Buying when you have to can finish up with you paying 20% more than you really need to !
Direct Debits
See what’s coming around. Don’t let Banks just continue your agreement automatically. For example - Home Insurance, Car Insurance etc. Play the field and look around for better deals.
Coupons, Vouchers etc.
Check everyone of those annoying leaflets which come through the door (the one’s which usually go straight in the bin). There could just be something there which will save you money.
Buying abroad
If you’re within distance of the Channel Ports, pop over to france or Belgium where many things are a lot less than here, albeit usually the thing’s which aren’t good for us !
Freeze the Pocket Money !
Why not. It’s good education for the Kids if they have to openly suffer a bit as well.
There are many many things we can all seriously look at and see the glaringly obvious thing’s we may have neglected to keep a steady eye on.
We can beat the Credit Crunch and most of us will !
