Eastwell - Video

The beautiful Lake, derelict Church and Eastwell Manor itself

Finding Eastwell Manor is pretty easy, from central Ashford or the motorway follow the signs to Faversham. After a couple of miles you'll come to Boughton Lees, the entrance is on the left just as you reach the Village Centre and Cricket Ground.

Finding Eastwell Lake and Church is not quite as easy. After leaving Ashford on the Faversham Road you'll see the old Manor Gates (see video), turn left, then immediately right along a meandering narrow Lane. After about three quarters of a mile, you'll see a smaller Lane still on the right hand side, go down there 400 meters and you're there.

The beauty of the Lake and Church is that not many people go there and to be fair, unless you're on a walk it's a dead end Lane with no access further than the Church, but nice to picnic in the old Graveyard.

But be warned, it's haunted apparently !

Queen Victoria is said to have skated on the Lake, but have to say the size it is, it would have had to reach record low temperatures to make it safe
