Supermarket Car Parks

« Previous: Daylight Robbery

When my daughter had a disabled badge for some while and I went to the Supermarket with her, it was brought to my attention how many non-badge people park in the allocated Disabled Slots.
If she went in the Supermarket ahead of me, or if I just got plain bored with the trudging around, I’d hang around the slots and purposely go up to cars as they parked and say “You’ve forgotten to put your badge in the window”

The usual answer was they had left it at home, then walked carefree and briskly off to do their shopping, or come out of the store with two loaves of bread and a packet of ciggies.
Just too lazy to confirm to what seems a very sensible law.

Today, I went to buy some food from my Supermarket. There’s a place for motorbikes and cycles, about 5 motorbikes wide and bars for about 6 bicycles.
One 4×4 had parked in the neighbouring Disabled place and had half the car slanted over the Bike place and the other 4×4 (I’m not having a go at 4×4’s) had actually parked in the Bike places.

I just about got my Moped in there, so if any others had turned up ‘tough luck’ so to speak.
I glanced around the rest of the Car Park and counted 8 empty spaces within about 40 meters!

Are these people so bloomin lazy that they can’t walk 40 meters to the Store?
It’s the same in my local Co-Op where there’s space for about 12 cars and two disabled next to the entrance. Even if it’s empty, cars just roll straight into the disabled, usually sideways and someone waits in the car with mega bass music.

The thing which really gets me is that these people aren’t ‘hoodies’, young tearaways, they are visually quite ‘socially correct’

To finish off, I’d just add that quite often you will see Attendants, Trolley Gatherers and other Staff walking past without taking any notice atall.

Maybe a little sticker on the back which they don’t see saying “I steal disabled peoples parking rights’ or a bigger one stuck on the windscreen with that hard to get off glue saying

No thought, no care, no sense, no brain!!

Well, that’s got that off my chest!
