Re: Lucas

I spent a small fortune and bought new rat and mouse traps with supposed attractant but none have been triggered. The other day I could hear the rat that ran into the understairs cupboard so its still around but I haven't seen or heard (or smelled) any others.

Re: Lucas

Touch wood, Lucas has recently not been actively bringing live animals into the house that I am aware of >fi< (or he drops them off in the dining room before greeting me in the living room because he might anticipate my reaction ... and who knows what he brings in after I've gone to bed!) Earlier th...

Re: Lucas

And ... now I have rats in the house yike* I was in the middle of a "TEAMS" meeting with a colleague from work when I heard the cat flap and then sounds of crashing about in the dining room. I excused myself and in the dining room I could see he had something trapped in a big cardboard box laid on i...

Re: Masterchef final 2021

Thats bonkers, I really cannot understand why bbc 1 and 2 showed exactly the same >coc< AND the BBC news channel was the same as BBC1 and BBC2. BBC 4 didn't show anything (I wasn't too bothered because Friday's schedule are usually of no interest to me) Apparently the BBC has had a lot of complaint...

Masterchef final 2021

As a result of the tv programme changes on Friday after the Duke of Edinburgh's death announcement, the rescheduled showing for the Masterchef final will apparently be 3.20am on the 23 April 2021. I record it anyway to watch later so won't be a problem but seems an odd time to show what is normally ...

Algae 2 update

And the low temperatures had an impact on my algae project - I'd left the bottles on the windowsill for maximum light from the south side, but was also the coldest. However, when there was some sunshine, the temperature on the windowsill was much warmer than expected. For the moment, not a lot of g...

Re: How many of you have had your Covid jab?

I don't understand the problem with "Covid passports" - if you haven't had the vaccine for whatever reason (unable to, pregnant, refuse) but can prove you have immunity or tested negative, then surely this gives people more confidence of mingling at venues than the current situation where there is a...

Re: Lucas

Clearly Lucas is trying to tell me something - I suspect it is the food I offer him {rofwl} I don't understand why he has got fussy with the wet food - he seems put out when I offer just biscuits (which I have in one bowl) but is very interested when I lift up the bowl which I use for wet food. Howe...

Re: Lucas

He's bringing you presents! He's been bringing me presents nearly EVERY DAY yike* - I have had to deal with the 9th mouse in as many days, only 2 were found dead. The others were very much alive and mobile - Lucas brings me the mouse just as I'm about to go to bed, then sits down and watches me whi...

Re: Where's Tabatha?

Lucas was a bit reluctant using the cat flap at first - there was no doubt food especially treats like Dreamies were very important to him at the time so he was eventually persuaded by a reward. I can remember him outside patting the flap with his foot while I was indoor calling him while holding th...

I got a delivery :)

Does your home-working let you choose your own time or must you be at your desk for most of the daylight hours? A bit of both - I put a lot of pressure on myself to meet targets to show I AM working but generally my line manager is happy for those working from home to fit round home life (especiall...

Pond maintenance + tidying up

During the stormy weather last week, the plastic sheeting over the pond was lifted up and tossed about under the netting pinned over which normally holds the sheets in place. The wind was so wild that it was too dangerous to go outside to try and sort the sheets out until the direction had shifted f...

Onions, garlic & potatoes 2021

I wasn't going to bother growing veg this year and was just going to concentrate on flowers and the algae project no. 2 but I was tempted by the free p&p  ... I restrained myself and kept to the basics of onions, garlic & potatoes when ordering online. I've never grown a spring planted garlic ...

Re: Lucas

He sounds as though he has you wrapped round his paws, clever cat. {rofwl} certainly keeping me on my feet Last night (thankfully not bedtime this time), I heard the cat flap swing shut and as I waited for him to make his usual appearance in the living room, there was nothing. I called his name and...

Re: How many of you have had your Covid jab?

I listened to someone on radio yesterday saying that one vaccine (Oxford???) was more likely to give side effects on the first dose, less on the booster, but the other way round for the other. I suppose it depends on what the vaccine is made up of. In a way, it is experimental compared to other vac...
