Compo had matchbox which he slid open to show someone, usually a lady in a pub, when they looked, they usually looked terrified and screamed!
No one ever discovered what was in the matchbox and that it went to his grave with him!

Hi Gwenoakes, I mustn't complain but I gave up my allotment early this year as I was in and out of hospital just at the wrong time. Having delved a bit deeper, it seems that early vinegar had microbe called a vinegar eel among other nasties. These bugs are no longer present in modern vinegar, so I'm not going to stink the place out boiling the stuff!
