Re: Rhododendrons

Pretty sure bees would avoid it if it's bad for them.

My friend loves his bees and yet has a patch of woodland full of rhodies, so I'm sure it will be fine.

Re: HAVING A WOODBURNER?

Absolutely worth it I have no idea what the regs are (and frankly don't care) as we fitted the last two we bought ourselves and plan to fit the next one, which is already sitting in the new house's lounge awaiting it's turn. We buy all the gear and firebox from a local small family business (barter,...

Re: Formula 1 2015

Canadian GP this weekend, one I'm looking forward to. Love a street circuit, me Last race I had a double chocolate fresh cream sponge (Sandy - it was VILE!) and this time I'm working on something containing maple syrup for my viewing pleasure. Maybe bacon and syrup ...... (Sandy - it will be VILE wh...

Okay, you got me there. I'm no fan of Mel Gibson and do consider Tom Hardy one of the UK's best actors - but he isn't Max as I would have cast it. However, the film's as good as they get even if you can't understand a word Hardy utters (that's deliberate though why I wouldn't like to guess). The wom...

Re: vera

Finally started to watch the second Vera. One thing is for sure, we won't find it boring no matter what. George Costigan's in it (the missing girl's dad) and he's not only a favourite stage actor of ours but his son Naill (also an actor) follows my dog on Twitter (long story). Last time we saw Georg...

Re: Formula 1 2015

I'm still super suspicious, sorry Hazell Fair enough, I would be too. Though in this case, over nothing. Being a total nerd I recorded the BBC Forum (it was discussed at length) and then looked up the brakes on F1 cars just to see if the team where telling porkies. They aren't. The Merc brakes have...

Well I've seen the first one only (so far) and have to agree Joe's not being there is a shame. But if an actor doesn't want to do something, they can't force him. We'd rather than one 2 hour detective show than two one hour ones. With the adverts zapped through they're only a maximum of 102 minutes ...

Missed Jensen, what a shame Yes, I expect he's rueing his decision to fight for that drive now. He could be sitting with the wife sipping a beer at home watching rather than giving interviews endlessly making excuses. Good race, enjoyed it. Not the result so much, but the action. By sheer chance I'...

Re: Formula 1 2015

You're not being thick, it's a sensible question in a mess of silly ones. He was told not to ruin his tyres (they'd not tried them out on long runs and had no idea how long they would last) and running within two seconds of any other car damages the tyres about 10 to 30% more than the exact same run...

Re: Froggies!

Our frog spawn's hatching now after what feels like a very long wait. This year there's about ten Belfast sinks (some in groups) yet only two had spawn in them, which perplexed me a bit. Haven't even seen any frogs in most of them, when last year there was a massive population boom after my efforts ...

Anyone know which wine goes with Brie?

Just wormed the dogs. Blob of brie encasing a pill, dropped casually on the floor as if by accident for the greedy Jack Russell and smaller blobs of brie placed in the bed of the snoozing, breakfast refusing Saluki (more in hope than anything, he's picky). Worked a charm but now they're both sufferi...

Won't eat his greens ....

My young Saluki is a very, very picky eater, as many sighthounds are. He's on wet food, raw meat, roasted meat, eggs and bread mainly and we frankly have a running battle some weeks to get calories into him. They just don't feel hunger like other dogs. Yesterday we were in my pet food shop (oh, the ...

Re: Pet insurance

I think Mercedes' post above proves why we should NOT pay for insurance. If that case had been un-insured, the vet would have simply treated the dog for it's symptoms at a cost of maybe £100 total at worst, and it would have been fine. However, as Mercedes pays insurance, he added a list of treatmen...
