I built my first bug hotel this morning but not sure what to expect. Unlike the garden in our old house which was pretty wild, our new garden is very much suburban and is surrounded by other gardens that are in the main well clipped and neat. I am trying to encourage more bees, wasps, hoverflies and...
I had my second jab yesterday and unlike Wendy, I have had no side-effects.
Our daughter and son-in-law had their first jabs this week. Andy was fine but Hannah was a bit rough last night.
I must admit I'm a fan of the over the top spectacle Eurovision has become but I think Wendy can take it or leave it. I remember the time when all the singers sang with a live orchestra which was interesting from the point of view of identifying who realty could sing live. There's so much pre record...
With the easing of restrictions, will you be hugging family, friends or perhaps even strangers? In reality, this shouldn't be about what the government says we can and can't do, but rather at a personal level how confident we can be given what we are told about rates of infections, effectiveness of ...
Just started to watch the whole series again as first time round only watched one or two. The book that goes with the series is Rick Stein's India - In Search of the Perfect Curry. 'Curry' is a foreign concept in India as virtually no one uses the expression. Rather than curry, they would say gravy,...
I see from the news that this new 'Indian' variant seems to be more transmittable. Hopefully, the current vaccine will still protect against it.
Wendy is a lot better today, back normal really. So fortunately looks like the side-effects last about a day, which is good as I have my second jab in a couple of weeks.
Wend had her second jab yesterday at about midday. She was feeling a bit rough by evening and is really poorly again this morning so still in bed.
Hopefully, it is just a 24 hour thing. Still, better than getting Covid I suspect.
As with all Indian food it is a bit of a faff on but as usual worth the effort. Basically, you soak your chickpeas (the Chole) overnight then pressure cook them with a couple of tea bags thrown in. These turn the chickpeas a dark brown. Then you cook onions and tomatoes and add your aromatic spices,...
I spoke to an old friend in Bangalore, India yesterday and his wife has had one dose of the Astro-Zenica vaccine as manufactured in India and he has had two doses. The situation in India with regards to the availability of vaccines is pretty dire at the minute but apparently he got his through their...
Mrs Fab and I don't get our second one until towards the end of May. On a positive note even one jab appears to give good protection against serious illness.
The poisonous ones are good to know too.
I've always fancied foraging for wild mushrooms but never felt I could identify the good ones from those that might kill you.
Will check out the Thompson and Morgan website - thanks.
